The Industrial Lead Generation Audit

Find out where your business is losing buyers before they ever enquire. 30 questions, six areas, about 15 minutes.

For engineering, manufacturing, mining, automation, process and industrial services businesses.

Why this audit

Most of the buying journey happens where you can’t see it

Industrial buyers research, compare suppliers and assess risk long before they make contact. Most of that happens where you can’t see it. Several people may be involved, and each one checks something different.

If your new work comes mostly through referrals, or your website gets visits but few enquiries, the gaps are usually somewhere in that journey. This audit helps you find them. A lead generation audit gives you a structured way to check each stage of that journey, one area at a time, up to the moment an enquiry reaches your team.

Flow of the buying journey a lead generation audit checks: hidden research, comparison and risk assessment, up to an enquiry reaching your team.
What it covers

Six areas, five statements each

01

Foundation

Do you know who you're trying to reach, and does your website say it clearly? That includes knowing why buyers choose you over competitors.

02

Attract

Can the right buyers find you on Google, on LinkedIn and through AI tools? That covers search, a complete Google Business Profile and regular technical content.

03

Capture

Can a buyer who isn't ready to call still leave their details? A guide, checklist or newsletter gives them a reason to do so.

04

Nurture

Do you stay in touch and build trust while buyers evaluate? Case studies and relevant follow-up keep you on the shortlist.

05

Convert

Is the next step clear and easy from every key page? Current contact details and a quick response matter as much as the button.

06

Tracking and sales handoff

Do you know where enquiries come from, and does every one reach the right person? Without it, you can't see which channels bring real opportunities, or which enquiries were lost.

Grid of the six areas the audit scores: foundation, attract, capture, nurture, convert, and tracking and sales handoff, with what each one checks.
Ladder explaining the area scores: 8 to 10 means in place, 4 to 7 means partly in place and 0 to 3 means missing, where most buyers are lost.
Flow showing where to start after scoring: the lowest area first, then the last step, foundation, capture and convert, nurture and finally attract.

Questions

About the audit

01Is the audit really free?

Yes. It's a self-assessment you complete on your own. Nobody sees your answers unless you choose to share them.

02How long does it take?

About 15 minutes. Answer honestly. A low score in one area is more useful than a high score everywhere.

03What happens after I sign up?

You'll get a link to download the audit straight away. If you tick the box, you'll also get Pinnacle Insights. We won't call you unless you ask us to.

04Can you help me fix what the audit finds?

Yes. Book a strategy session and we'll talk through your score and what to prioritise.

05How is the audit scored?

Each of the 30 statements scores 2 if it's fully true for your business today, 1 if it's partly true and 0 if it isn't true or you don't know. Each area is scored out of 10, and your total is out of 60.

06What do the area scores mean?

A score of 8 to 10 means that area is in place. 4 to 7 means it's partly in place and buyers are probably slipping through. 0 to 3 means it's missing, and it's likely where you're losing the most buyers.

07Where should I start fixing?

Start with your lowest-scoring area. When scores are close, fix the last step first and make sure every enquiry actually arrives. Then work on your foundation, then capture and convert, then nurture, and finally attract.

08Should I complete it on my own or with my team?

Either works. Some statements are easier to score with input from whoever handles sales and whoever looks after the website, so it also makes a useful short team exercise.

09Is this the same as a professional marketing audit?

No. The Industrial Lead Generation Audit is a self-assessment that shows you where to look. If you want an outside view, Pinnacle's Industrial Marketing Audits and Industrial Website Audits review your marketing and website in detail.

10How often should I repeat it?

Repeat it after you've made changes, or once a year. Keep your first scores as a baseline so you can see whether the gaps are closing and which changes made the difference.
